TIPS FOR PARENTS ARE FOCUS OF TRINITY LUTHERAN’S LOMBARD PARENT WORKSHOP

Trinity Lutheran School in Lombard presents a workshop packed with tips for parents on Thursday, February 28, at 7 p.m.  “What’s Right, What’s Reasonable, What’s Responsible: Tips for Parents” is the topic presented by longtime educator and early childhood expert, Marlene Krohse.

Babysitting is provided at the workshop, which is geared to parents of children from toddlerhood through adolescence.

The school is located on the northeast corner of Roosevelt and Westmore-Meyers Roads in Lombard.  Trinity provides all day preschool, extended care for preschool and kindergarten, and a quality Christian education for students from age 3 through 8th grade.  After school care and summer camp programs are also available at the 148 year old school.

Trinity began as a one-room schoolhouse in the Civil War era, started by the area's German Lutheran farm families. The descendants of some of those original farm families still attend class at Trinity. Yet at the same time, the diversity of contemporary Lombard and the surrounding community is reflected in each class. Trinity Lutheran School’s quality Christian education curriculum and small class sizes are complemented with computers in every classroom, a comprehensive physical education program and music classes. Trinity offers extra curricular participation in team sports, including girls and boys volleyball and basketball teams, which compete in regular conference season, multiple tournaments and additional non-conference play.  Upper grades also compete in an annual spring track meet against other area schools.  Trinity’s music enrichment offerings include a school band, with individual lessons during the school day, a strings program, twice a year performance concerts and a fine arts fair in cooperation with other area instrumental programs, plus chimes and handbell choirs.  Among the special events featured each year are a Christmas worship service, social studies or science fair and a spring musical.  The school offers a weekly hot lunch program and an after school art development program.

Trinity’s parent and family organization, the PwtL [Parenting with the Lord] presents regular social opportunities, runs the school sports booster program, and coordinates fundraising for special purchases and programs.

Trinity Lutheran School is currently accepting registration applications for the 2008-2009 school year. Questions regarding Trinity Lutheran School and its programs are welcome.  To register for or get information about the “What’s Right, What’s Reasonable, What’s Responsible: Tips for Parents” workshop, call the Trinity Lutheran School office at 630.627.5601 or email schoolinfo@trinitylombard.org.
