GOD'S WORD "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes - I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!" (Job 19:25-27)
THINGS FOR OUR CONSIDERATION 1)For what does your heart yearn? Note: Our hearts usually yearn for the things that complete the sentence: "If I only _____________, then I would be happy" 2)How do you think most people in society would complete this sentence: "And after my skin has been destroyed - ______________________________"? 3)How can that for which our hearts yearn, affect that which will occur after "... my skin has been destroyed"? 4)Throughout history people have been buried with that for which their heart yearned –a Saxon king was once buried with his horse, challenging the idea that "You can't take it with you." Job also challenged this philosophy. How? 5)Through faith in Jesus, God forgives us when our heart yearns for things other than Him. Through His Word He strengthens our faith enabling us to "take it with us" so that we can confess with Job, "And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God." Because Jesus lives, of what can we also be assured? 6)Two of the most beautiful testimonials to a complete life and a satisfied heart is found in the "Great Magnificat" (Luke 1 :46-55) spoken by the Virgin Mary, and in the "Prayer of Hannah" found in 1 Samuel 2:1-10. Both encapsulate our innermost yearnings and needs. Read these passages, and consider these two humble women who found their soul's fulfillment in the Lord.
